Kemp Hall Features Window Art

Window Art located at the corner of N. Market St. & E. Church St.

Ellen Byrne brings vibrant, rotating artwork to the windows of Kemp Hall Lofts & Studios and the Candy Kitchen in Downtown Frederick on the corner of N. Market Street and E. Church Street. Ausherman Family Foundation partnered with the Downtown Frederick Partnership to display window art that reflects the Downtown Frederick community. The window highlights the community as well as events happening throughout the year. The Ausherman Family Foundation is committed to uplifting the arts in Frederick County through catalyzing public art projects. They are honored to support a thriving arts community and look forward to many similar projects in the future.

The window artwork displayed in May 2020 was created in collaboration with Ausherman Family Foundation, Ellen Byrne and the United Way of Frederick County to represent the hope and unity in the Frederick community as we face the COVID-19 crisis together.

Marvin Ezra Ausherman, a native of Frederick County, received his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Miami University of Ohio in 1974.

Marvin then joined his father in the family’s residential home building business. He eventually took the reins of the company until it was sold to Drees Homes in 2003. Marvin had a successful career as a second-generation residential home builder/developer, completing 30 communities and 5,000 homes over 40 years. For the past 15 years, Marvin has been a commercial developer/investor and devotes much of his time to the family’s philanthropic endeavors. He created the Ausherman Family Trust in 2000 and the Ausherman Family Foundation in 2006.

Marvin has and always will be involved in many Frederick County organizations and projects for the betterment of the Frederick community. He has served on the County’s Affordable Housing Council as chair and on the Boards of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of Frederick County, YMCA of Frederick County, Federated Charities, Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County, Frederick Health, Frederick Community College, and others. He is the founder of BlueRidge Bank, a local Frederick County community bank, and also a member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Frederick.
